Ponds can vary from small container water gardens to large pond systems. Your water garden will be a habitat that’s safe for plants, fish and other wildlife by being built in the most natural way possible. There are several different types of ponds —
large or small, deep or shallow.

Small ponds, large ponds, streams, waterfalls or pond-less waterfalls all exist in nature and are all aquatic ecosystems. Pond-less to larger ponds are actually much easier to maintain than their smaller siblings due to the volume of water. Meaning, it takes more to affect a large pond than a smaller pond.
EXAMPLE:
pH. Having a stable pH level is important for keeping fish healthy. In small ponds, you can experience rapid pH imbalance due to water changes, rain, runoff, etc. In a large pond, it takes more outside changes before the effects are noticeable. This does not mean you should only build a larger pond, just a suggestion to go with the largest pond space that you can. You will also be happier with a larger display.
